Tennessee vacation guide to the Smokies

Ask a Reservationist!

The reservationists at Smoky Mountain Resorts are often asked their opinions on local attractions, events, and sights. We all live locally in the Pigeon Forge area and get to enjoy the scenery, restaurants, shopping, and fun on a full time basis. I guess it is safe to call us local know-it-alls! The good news for you is that we love to share our knowledge and opinions. Our phone lines are open for you to pick our brains whenever you wish! In the mean time, here are a few of our FAQ's (frequently asked questions) and their answers.

Q: We want to avoid traffic. Is there a better way to get around town?

A: Yes! We have a great trolley system that runs up and down the Parkway. It stops in front of all the major attractions and our hotels. It only
costs fifty cents to ride and they will take you wherever you wish. There are even trolleys that take you to Dollywood and Gatlinburg.

Q: Where can I purchase discount Dollywood tickets?

A: One of the best deals in town is right at the front desk of your hotel. During Dollywood's regular season, you can purchase "Play Another Day" tickets which will allow you to visit the park for two full days at the price of a one day ticket! What a bargain!

Q: We want to enjoy the outdoors at the national park, but we don't know where to start! Do you have any suggestions?

A: We recommend that you visit the Sugarlands Visitors Center at the Gatlinburg entrance to the park. This is a great place to plan a trek in to
the park. They have a host of park rangers on hand to point out the perfect hiking trails for your group's particular skills. They also can provide you with free maps and information on wildlife in the park.
Q: Are there any kid-friendly restaurants in town?

A: Yes! There are loads of great places that are set up to feed us all! One place in particular that we all like is Mr. Gatti's Pizza. It is an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet that will please kids and grownups alike. They also have a huge game room sure to entertain kids of all ages!

Q: We can't bear to leave home without our beloved pooch! Are any of your hotels pet friendly?

A: The family of hotels in the Smoky Mountain Resorts group have two hotels that welcome man's best friend. Both the Ramada Inn and the Rodeway Inn have special rooms reserved only for people staying with pets. It may be helpful to note that Dollywood also has their own on-park kennel, "Doggywood", where Fido can safely relax while you tour the park.

Q: We only have two days to visit Pigeon Forge. What attractions are not to be missed?

A: This is a toughie! There are so many things to choose from. Our best advice is to do a little bit of everything. We suggest that you take in a show, visit a shop or two, get a good sampling of Southern cooking, and make plans to come back and see us again soon!
